FAQs
HOW DO I RECORD MYSELF?
Side View: Film from a 90-degree angle to the baseline. This allows us to see your body rotation, swing path, and footwork.
Rear View: Film from a 45-degree angle behind you to capture your stance, backswing, and follow-through.
Distance: Position the camera 10-15 feet away from you.
Height: Place the camera at hip height (approximately 3 feet off the ground) to capture your full body mechanics.
Timing: Record continuous hitting for 2 minutes, including your preparation, swing, and recovery between strokes.
Focus: Ensure the camera captures your entire body (head to toe) and the ball’s trajectory.
What are the basic guidelines?
To ensure the best possible analysis of your tennis strokes (forehand, backhand, serve, etc.), please follow the guidelines below. These specifications will help our analysts provide accurate and actionable feedback.
1. General Requirements
Video Length: Submit a 2-minute video of you hitting the same stroke repeatedly. This allows us to analyze your stroke mechanics, footwork, racquet preparation, and weight distribution between strokes.
Frame Rate: Record at 60 FPS (frames per second) or higher for smooth slow-motion playback.
Resolution: Use at least 1080p (Full HD) resolution for clear detail.
Lighting: Film in a well-lit environment (natural light is ideal). Avoid backlighting (e.g., standing with the sun or bright light behind you).
Background: Preferably use a plain, non-distracting background (e.g., a solid fence or wall) to make it easier to focus on your movements.
Audio: Not required, but if included, ensure it doesn’t interfere with the video quality.
Handedness: Indicate whether you are left-handed or right-handed in your submission.
2. Additional Tips for Filming
Consistency: Use a consistent hitting partner, ball machine, or coach to feed you balls. This ensures you can focus on your stroke without interruptions.
Tripod: Use a tripod or stable surface to avoid shaky footage.
Multiple Angles: If possible, submit videos from two angles (e.g., side and rear) for a more comprehensive analysis.
Clothing: Wear contrasting colors to the background (e.g., avoid green if filming on a green court) to make it easier to track your movements.
3. Explanation for Users
We use advanced software to analyze your video frame by frame. Our analysts will select the best 5 to 10 seconds of your 2-minute video for detailed analysis. This allows us to focus on key moments that highlight your technique, footwork, and mechanics.
A 2-minute video of you hitting the same stroke repeatedly also helps us observe:
Your footwork patterns between strokes.
How you hold your racquet during preparation and recovery.
Your weight distribution and body mechanics.
4. Basic Policies
Resubmission: We may ask for a second video if:
The camera angle is incorrect.
You are too close or too far from the camera.
The lighting or background makes it difficult to analyze your strokes.
Preparation: Please read the requirements carefully before filming to avoid delays in your analysis.
Feedback: Our analysts will provide feedback based on the best segments of your video. If additional footage is needed, we will notify you.
5. Recommendations
Hitting Partner: Find a consistent hitting buddy or coach who can feed you balls accurately.
Ball Machine: If available, use a ball machine to ensure consistent ball placement.
Practice: Warm up before filming to ensure your strokes are natural and consistent.
By following these guidelines, you’ll help us provide the most accurate and detailed analysis of your tennis strokes. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out before submitting your video. Happy filming!
